About Me
Charis To, ALMFT
Charis firmly believes that a healthy foundation for a family starts with good interpersonal relationships and well-being within a marriage. When providing care and support for families, her cross-cultural experiences of living in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and North America equip her with a deeper understanding of her clients in the areas of transition, unresolved grief, parent-child relationships, and identity. With 7 years of experience working as a teacher, youth worker, and Third Culture Kids (TCK) Advisor, Charis has empowered youth in their personal growth, provided advice on parenting, and helped families to overcome communication barriers and conflicts. She has also conducted various English and Cantonese workshops on topics such as positive parenting, strengthening parent-child relationships, handling emotions, TCK identities, transition and grief, as well as bullying and self-esteem issues.
Charis provides therapy for clients with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, self-esteem issues, domestic violence backgrounds, attachment issues, parent-child conflicts, special education needs (SEN), marital conflicts, and infidelity. She also has experience administering play therapy for children. Her clientele, thus far, includes various ethnic groups in America, Hong Kong Chinese, and ethnic minorities. She graduated with a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Wheaton College Graduate School in Illinois, U.S.A.
